Bernard J. Flahaven

Bernard J. Flahaven, 95, of Wenona, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Friday, June 13, at St. Mary’s Church in Wenona with the Franciscan Friars officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until time of services. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Wenona. The Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona has been entrusted with his funeral arrangements.

Mr. Flahaven was born in Streator on October 19, 1929 to Willard and Venetta (Berry) Flahaven. He served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He married Janet Hakes on November 24, 1962. Mr. Flahaven worked as a farmer in the Wenona area his entire life. He enjoyed traveling and watching sports.

Mr. Flahaven is survived by his longtime companion Dolores “Sis” Pickard of Wenona and many generations of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet on June 12,1996; parents; four brothers, Raymond, Willard, Edward, and Donald Flahaven; two sisters, Doris Ann Urbance and Sister Beatrice Flahaven OSB.
