Bernadine A. Salomone

Bernadine A. Salomone, 86, of Peru passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on May 23, 2023.

Mass of Christian burial will be 1:00 PM Friday at St. Columba Church in Ottawa. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Ottawa. Visitation will be in the church on Friday from 11:30 AM until time of service. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle has been entrusted with Bernadine’s arrangements.

Bernadine was born in Rochelle, IL on November 4, 1936 to Lyle Reed and Margaret Donio (Ward) Reed. She married Edward Salomone on August 27, 1955 in Ottawa, IL. Bernadine farmed with her husband in Waltham Township and was employed at Bakelite and American Hoechst.

Bernadine is survived by her daughters Marlene (Randall) Williams of Ottawa, and Marilyn (Tim) Reisel of Ballwin, MO; daughter-in-law Margo (Volpe) Salomone of Peru, IL; and grandchildren Bryan Williams of Ottawa, IL; Philip (Jessica) Reisel of Ballwin, MO; Clare (Neal) Ford of Ellisville, MO; Megan (Don) Burrell of Peru, IL; Abby (Jake) Kotecki of Peru, IL; and Molly (Justin) Sullivan of Hudson, IL. Bernadine also was blessed with 14 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward Salomone in 1999, her brother Burney Reed, Sr. in 2001, and her son Terry Salomone in 2019.

Pallbearers will be Don Burrell, Neal Ford, Jake Kotecki, Philip Reisel, Justin Sullivan, and Bryan Williams.
