Barbara (Bird) Lunn, 90, passed away May 9, 2023 peacefully in her Ladd home surrounded by her family.
Mass of a Christian burial will be Monday May 15th at 11:00AM at Nativity of Our Lord Church in Spring Valley with Rev. Scott Pothoff officiating . Visitation will be in the church from 10:00 AM until services begin. Burial will be at the Ladd Cemetery following services. The Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd has been entrusted with Barb’s arrangements.
Barb was born October 8, 1932 in Ladd to Joseph and Margaret (Paglia) Bird. Barb graduated from Hall High School in 1950. Afterwards, she worked at Westclox.
On June 12th, 1954, she married her high school sweetheart Leroy T. Lunn. They were married for nearly 60 years, until his passing in 2015.
Barbara was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church until its closing. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and served one term as president.
Barb was involved in various organizations and committees that benefited the Ladd community her entire life. She served on the park and recreation board for over twenty years, planning Halloween parades and Easter Egg Hunts which set the standards for years to come. She was a member of the Ladd Community Improvement Association for many years and helped with the yearly Ladd Day Celebrations.
Barb continued to be involved with the Ladd sociable for monthly gatherings for the seniors of Ladd as well as the surrounding communities.
She worked at the Ladd Public Library and was responsible for the Dewey Decimal System implementation. She also worked at Sunstrand for several years.
She enjoyed, baking, painting, quilting, and arts and crafts of all kinds. The thing she received the most joy from was her family. She supported her children and then her grandchildren in all of their endeavors. It brought her great joy to see them succeed and always provided continuous support.
Barbara is proceeded in death by her parents Margaret and Joe Bird. Her husband Leroy Lunn, Eugene and Jeanette Sebben and their daughter Kris Sharp.
She is survived by her three children Barbara (Jerry) Stank, Pete (Mary) Lunn, and Lisa Grivetti. Her cousin, Johnny Camarlo. Seven grandchild Matt (Tara) Stank, Meghan (Jordan) Lutes, Elizabeth (Hernan Rojas) Lunn, Thomas Lunn, Emily (Jose Rios) Grivetti, Alexis Grivetti (Matt Orlandi), Jessica Grivetti. The grandchildren who also serve as pallbearers. Barb also had ten great grandchildren, Ethan Swanland, Aiden Swanland, Noah Stank, Tristian Stank, Carson Lutes, Liv Lutes, Dominic Rios, Luca Rios, Camilia Bird Rojas and Everleigh Bird Orlandi.
