Audrey M. Burton

Audrey M. Burton, 93, of Peru passed away in her home surrounded by her family on December 17, 2019.

Funeral services will be 12:30 PM Sunday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until time of services in the funeral home. Private burial will be at a later date.

Mrs. Burton was born in Peru on November 26, 1926 to Deitrick Gustov and Zurita Gertrude (Witzeman) Storkman. She married Donald C. Burton on May 28, 1949. Mrs. Burton worked as Director of Personnel at St. Mary’s in La Salle, Director of Volunteer Services at Mary Greely Medical Center in Ames, IA, and as Administrative Assistant of History and Anthropology at Iowa State University.

Mrs. Burton enjoyed sewing, reading, baking, cooking, fishing, and working on difficult crossword puzzles. She loved spending time with her family; especially her grandson. She was also an avid Cubs fan.

Mrs. Burton is survived by her husband of 70 years, Don of Peru; her daughter Barbara (Terry) Burton-Feldott Ph.D. of La Salle; grandson Ryan Burton Feldott of Spring Valley; sister Barbara Calhan of Warsaw, IN; brother Robert (Carol) Storkman of Peru; sister-in-law Mary Ellen Storkman of Peru, Dorothy Storkman of Earlville, and Molly Burton of Houston, TX; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and her cat Cookie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters June Hebel, Norma Cattani, Paula Stringer; brothers Kenneth, Richard, and Larry Storkman; two nieces; and four nephews.
