Arthur "Art" I. Lund Jr., 92, of Tonica, passed away peacefully in his home on March 15, 2025.
Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Friday, March 21, at the Hurst Funeral Home in Tonica with Pastor Mark Nowakowski officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 PM until time of services.
Art was born in Granville on January 21, 1933 to Arthur and Louise (Neubaum) Lund Sr. He attended the one room schoolhouse in Tonica with his siblings, Lloyd "Sonny" and Edith "Sis" (Verda). Art served as a Sergeant in the Army during the Korean War (1953-1955) and was stationed overseas. He told many stories of the people he met and the memories he made during his time there.
After the war, he married the love of his life, Marilyn "Joyce" McDowell on May 29, 1955. They moved to Deer Park and had three children: Brenda, Brian, and Barry. He worked on a farm for most of his life, ten years with Illinois Nitrogen in Marseilles, and ending his working career at Dauber Company. By far, his favorote job of all was being a grandpa. Above all, Art loved taking care of his family. He was always outside working on anything that needed fixing, whether it was one of his old tractors or his stubborn lawn mower. Those who knew Art loved him for the wonderful man he was and will be greatly missed.
Art is survived by his best friend and wife Joyce of Tonica; two children Brenda Lund of La Salle and Barry (Tina) Lund of Tonica; two granddaughters, Marissa (Derek) Sellers of PawPaw and Amy (Nolan) Severson of Lostant; four great-grandchildren, Lane, Korra, Sloane Sellers, and Waylon Severson; his sister Edith of Granville; and many family and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son Brian, his parents, his brother Lloyd, and his granddog Brutus.
Memorials may be directed to the Tonica Ambulance and Fire Department.
