Arlan “Mac” R. McLaughlin, 81, of Spring Valley and formerly of Mendota, died December 27, 2019, in OSF St. Anthony’s Medical Center in Rockford. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday in the Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd with visitation from 10:00 am until time of services.
Arlan was born in Troy Grove on March 20, 1938 to Harold and Vera (Kreiser) McLaughlin. He married Tamara (Castner). He then Married Madeline (Zitoun). He owned Mac’s Cities Service Shop in Mendota. He then owned and operated his own semi truck. Arlan enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed being a mechanic, working on motors, and using his hands. He was always willing to help others when needed. He loved attending his grandchildren’s events.
Arlan is survived by his wife Madeline of Spring Valley, six children; Joy (Jeff) Sterling of Mendota, Elizabeth (James) Ambler of Mendota, Julie (Eric) Kisellus of Utica, John (Debbie) Andes of Hollowayville, Jim (Tina) Andes of Mark, and Jody (Angie) Andes of South Carolina, grandchildren; Danielle, Haley, Eva, Erica, Elysia, Elaina, Elivia, Stacy, Michelle, Steven, Jeremy, Jennifer, Josh, Ricky, Tom, Jonathon, and Jessica, many great grandchildren, and one sister; Wilda (John) Daffara of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Anita Edwards and Doris Black, and one granddaughter Candice Sterling.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
