Anne Fesco Obituary

Anne Condron Fesco, 87, of LaSalle went to her eternal reward on January 4, 2019 surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be at Hurst Funeral Home in LaSalle on Wednesday, January 9th, from 5 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00PM.  Father Gregory Jarzombek, OSB of St. Bede Abbey, will officiate a mass at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick’s Church in LaSalle on Thursday, January 10th.
A visitation will be held prior to the mass at 10:00AM in the church.

Anne was born on July 10, 1931 in Ottawa, IL to Dalton and Ruth (Murray) Condron.  She graduated from Ottawa Catholic High School (now Marquette Academy) and St. Francis School of Nursing in Peoria.  She met her husband, Edward Fesco, when she was a nurse at Northwestern University Medical School Clinic and he was an intern at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago.  Anne and Ed were married at St. Columba Church in Ottawa on May 26, 1956.

All were welcome at the Fesco house.  She charmed all she met with her Irish friendliness.  Anne’s love extended beyond her immediate family to so many, especially her nephew the late Kerry Condron, his sisters, Kate, Margaret, Sheila and Bridget, and good friends Madeline Mauro and the Hybke family.

Anne was a member of the Illinois Valley Garden Club and the St. Patrick’s Altar and Rosary Society, where she was tasked with many duties including cleaning the church and ironing the altar linens.  She volunteered for many years at the Illinois Valley Red Cross Blood Bank.

Anne was a great cook, with her pot roast being a favorite of all the family.  The famous “Irish” spaghetti sauce was served up every July at the family’s log cabin in Wisconsin.  It routinely drew 40-50 people.  She loved singing songs, sewing, and playing bridge with her daughters and dear friends, Betty Jensen and Marilyn Condron. She and Ed entertained the many folks who wandered over every St. Patrick’s Day from St. Patrick’s Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner to the Fesco house for dessert and a wee drop or two.  She loved watching Notre Dame football, the Chicago Bears, and the Champion Chicago Bulls.

She is survived by her husband Dr. Edward Fesco, and their children Eileen Fesco of Marseilles, John Fesco, Nora Fesco, Carol Fesco and Beth Fesco of LaSalle; her grandsons, Michael (Elizabeth) Williams, Carlo Ballerine, and Darren and Corey Fesco; one great grandson, Kayden Williams; and one brother, Edward Condron.  She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Mary Williams.

Memorials may be directed to Horizon House of Illinois Valley, Inc. and St. Patrick’s Church.
