Allie "Bugs" T. Pruitt

Allie T. “Bugs” Pruitt Jr., 74, of Rutland, passed away May 16, 2023 in University of Chicago Hospital.

Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Saturday June 10, 2023 in the Rutland Cemetery in Rutland with full military services conducted by the Rutland American Legion #1121.  The Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona is entrusted with funeral arrangements.

Allie was born on November 18, 1948 to Allie T. and Goldie (Opal) Pruitt.  Upon graduating from high school, Allie entered the service and gallantly fought in Vietnam with the United States Army from which he was honorably discharged in 1974.  Following his return home, Allie married his high school sweetheart Ms. Shirley Laverne Bridgeforth on February 14, 1970.  He was employed at Interlake Steel from which he retired.

Allie is survived by his three sons, Todd, Jeffrey and Gary Pruitt; his lifelong best friend Gary Gerson; brother and sisters and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Shirley on October 17, 2020.
