Allan A. Smith

Allan A. Smith, 92, of Tonica, passed away peacefully April 9, 2021 in Pleasant View Lutheran Home in Ottawa.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Hurst Funeral Home in Tonica. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of services. Burial will be private.

Mr. Smith was born in Spring Valley on November 2, 1928 to Marshall and Irma (Alleman) Smith. He married Nancy Sell on January 24, 1959. Mr. Smith worked as a farmer for 55 years and at Unimin Silica Sand for 23 years.

Mr. Smith was a member of the Oglesby Elks for 30 years and Masons for 71 years. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing. In his retirement, he discovered his love for trees, particularly fruit and nut trees. Mr. Smith was a great family man. He was also very proud of the fact he lived in the same house his entire life.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife Nancy of Tonica; his children Mark (Kathy) Smith of Oswego, Barbara (Tom) Longbons of Tonica, Mike (Beth) Smith of Grand Ridge, and Teresa (Rick) Urban of La Salle; four grandchildren Ryan, Megan, Quintin, and Cody; and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Tonica Fire and Ambulance or the Tonica Cemetery.
