Alan Eugene Rodda, 76, of La Salle and Willow, AK, passed away July 2, 2024 at OSF St. Anthony’s Medical Center in Rockford.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday at First Congregational Church of La Salle with Pastor Lee Iseley officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting the family with his arrangements.
Alan was born in La Salle on May 18, 1948 to Kenneth and Mildred (Dean) Rodda. He married Barbara Vaughn on October 5, 1979. Alan was a member of Boilermakers Local 60.
Alan was also a member of First Congregational Church of La Salle, Mason Lodge Acacia #67 for 50 years, Boy Scouts Troop 3732 Dimmick and 123 Peru, Ingersoll Boy Scout Camp, Cache Lake in Canada where he earned the name “Wrong Way Rodda”, and Order of the Arrow.
Alan was an avid hunter in his younger years and was proud his bear skin rug and moose antlers. He enjoyed fishing winter and summer, making fishing jigs, and telling tall tales. He spent his time between Alaska living out his dream of fishing all year long and La Salle where he could visit family and friends. He loved playing Santa at Christmas. He also helped with coaching little league.
Alan is survived by his wife Barb of La Salle; two sons Jeremy (Sarah) Rodda of La Salle and Blaine (Jennifer) Rodda of Puyallup, WA; grandchildren Allyson, Gracie, Helena, and Griffin; brother Jeff Rodda of Peru; and companion Lois McManus of Willow, AK.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kenneth and William, and sister Debbie.
