William "Bill" Bonnell

William “Bill” Bonnell, 72, of LaMoille, died after a long illness on October 31, 2017 surrounded by his family in Manor Court of Peru.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 AM Saturday in St. Patrick’s Church in Arlington with Rev. Patrick Fixsen officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Arlington. Visitation will be 4-7:00 PM Friday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. Additional visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until time of services.

Mr. Bonnell was born in Mendota on July 7, 1945 to Irie and Irma (Stouffer) Bonnell. He married Ruth Kenny on November 30, 1968 in St. Patrick’s Church in Arlington. Bill served in the Army National Guard. He worked at Motor Wheel in Mendota, then for his uncle Wilber Bonnell Construction, and retired in 2008 with Local #150 of Operating Engineering. Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, and mostly, spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Arlington and the NRA.

Mr. Bonnell is survived by his wife Ruth of LaMoille; two daughters Malinda (James) Rossi of Manhattan and Stacey (Sam) Harper of LaMoille; eight grandchildren William Blackman, Faye Rossi, Alana, Carter, Casen and Ella Cherry, Zoe and Lindsay Harper; two sisters Rose Ella (Vallery “Larry”) Leffelman of Sublette and Jane (Terry) Garland of Dixon; two brothers Michael (Kathy) Bonnell of Amboy and Russell (Janette) Bonnell of Dixon; two sister-in-laws Lynne Bonnell of Arlington and June Bonnell of LaMoille; numerous nieces and nephews; and his sidekick Shadow.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Dean, Richard “Dick”, and Raymond “Tony” Bonnell; and a nephew Spencer Garland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to his family, LaMoille Ambulance and Fire Department, or LaMoille Lion’s Club.
