Thomas J. Rodda

Thomas J. Rodda, 70, of La Salle passed away July 31, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Private services will take place in St. Vincent’s Cemetery at a later date with full military services conducted by the La Salle/Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Rodda was born in La Salle on July 22, 1948 to Harry and Otilda (Mueller) Rodda. He served in front-line combat  with the US Marines in Vietnam from 1968-1969 . Mr. Rodda married Carol Spelich on November 7, 1969. He worked as a security guard with Catepillar in Aurora.

Mr. Rodda enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was known for being a jokester. He was also a member of the La Salle VFW.

Mr. Rodda is survived by his wife Carol of La Salle; three daughters, Jeri (Kevin) Visocky of Spring Valley, Nikki (Jason Wagner) Volkert  of Spring Valley, and Shelly (John) Stogsdill of Plainfield; and ten grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter Lauren Volkert, and two brothers David and Steve Rodda.
