Robert "Bob" Eide

Robert “Bob” Eide, 74, of La Salle, died unexpectedly on May 9, 2018 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with Rev. Harold Datzman OSB and Rev. Patrick Fennell OSB officiating.  Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of services.

Bob was born in Sandwich, IL on August 13, 1943 to Lloyd and Alma (Helengreen) Eide.  He married Shirley Gens on September 5, 1970.  Bob served with the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller, where he was stationed in England for three years during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad before retiring from American Nickeloid.

Bob enjoyed watching and coaching baseball, watching his grandsons play sports, fishing and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.  He was a member of Ladd Moose, past vice president of La Salle Baseball, past board member of Ladd Youth Baseball, St. Bede Bedan Club and AmVets.

Bob is survived by his wife Shirley of La Salle; four children, Jennifer (Jim) Manning of Ladd, Julie Eide of Chicago, Janelle Eide of Denver, CO and Jeffrey Eide of La Salle; two grandsons, Michael and Max Manning of Ladd and two nieces.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Sandra and Becky.
