Mary E. Hankes

Mary E. Hankes, 87, of La Salle, passed away March 28, 2018 at Manor Court of Peru.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with Rev Jacob Valle officiating.  Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until time of services.

Mrs Hankes was born in West Chicago on March 26, 1931 to George J. and Mary (Theis) Pohl Sr.  She worked for Jewel Foods for 28 years before retiring. 

Mary is survived by three daughters, Sandra (Darrell) Newton of Cordova, TN., Paula (Eric) Hanson of Elgin, IL., and JoAnn Manfredini of La Salle: 9 grandchildren, Amber Hankes, Robert (Carol) Spangler, Hali (Nathan) Ficek, Dawn (Joe) Sowders, Jillian (Eric) Hadley, Richard (Kelly) Spangler, Joseph (Veronica) Spangler, Mary Spangler, and Emily (Phillip) Love: 18 great-grandchildren, Sandie, Robby, Brandon, Wyatt, Lily, Jack, Ian, Blake, Trent, Nick, Gage, Rylee, Ryker, Vivian, Ryan, Abbi, Sophia, and Savannah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving son Peter Hankes.
