Lucille M. Kowalczyk, 80, of Peru, formerly of Naplate, passed away November 25, 2018 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 AM Thursday in St. Valentine’s Church in Peru with Msgr. Richard Soseman officiating. Burial will be in the Peru City Mausoleum. Visitation will be 4 to 7:00 PM Wednesday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. Additional visitation will be in the church on Thursday from 9:30 AM until time of services. A rosary will be recited in the church at 9:00 AM on Thursday.
Lucille was born in Ottawa on August 2, 1938 to Frank and Pauline “Nellie” (Torri) Monterastelli. She married Donald “Jimmy” Kowalczyk on January 25, 1958. She was a Beautician at Vi’s in Peru and later out of her home in Peru.
Lucille enjoyed playing softball, cards with her club and recreational volleyball. She was a founding member of the Peru Girls Softball League.
Lucille was a kidney recipient in 2010 from her son Ritchie.
She is survived by her husband Donald “Dima” Kowalczyk of Peru; three sons, Steve (Meg) Kowalczyk, Scott (Michael Stalker) Kowalczyk and Ritchie (Janeen) Kowalczyk; three daughters, Karen (Glen) Mudge, Kim (Dr. Lee) Ceresa and Nancy (Mike) Carter; nine grandchildren, Jenna, David, Justeen, Jake, Kylee, Karch, Luke, Ronnie and Brett; four great-grandchildren, Ella, Emmy, Jameson and Jordy.
She was preceded in death by siblings Frankie Monterastelli, Francis Swift, Johnny Monterastelli, Annabelle Schomas, Gloria Hembree and Betty Radon.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
