Leroy Montgomery

Leroy Montgomery, 79, of Toluca died peacefully in his home on January 23, 2020 of natural causes.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona. Burial will be private. Visitation will be in the funeral home from noon until time of services.

Leroy was born in Modoc, IL on August 28, 1940 to Marrion Franklin Bass and Ollie Hackworth and adopted and raised by Charlie and Ollie (Hackworth) Montgomery. He was married to Janet (Prater) Beecher.  He later married Mary Juntunen in the Streator Baptist church on August 25, 1978. He was a cement finisher for many years.

Leroy enjoyed training, riding, and raising horses.

Leroy is survived by his wife Mary of Toluca; seven children Cheryl (Barry) Stech of Toluca, Keith (Linda) Montgomery of Minonk, Bruce (Sheila) Montgomery of Choctaw, OK, Mark (Renee) Montgomery of Rutland, Donna (Dale) LaBarge of St. Cloud, MN, Doug Peterson of St. Cloud, MN, and DeAnn Lumley of St. Cloud, MN; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and one brother Bill LaChance of Doniphan, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one great granddaughter Reagan Kuehn, and one brother Robert Montgomery.
