Lawrence “Mitch” D. Mitchell

Lawrence “Mitch” D. Mitchell, 82, of Peru, died May 7, 2019 in St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley after a long extended illness.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday in the Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd with Deacon John Murphy officiating.  Burial will be in Ladd Cemetery with full military services conducted by the Ladd American Legion.  Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 AMuntil time of services.
Mitch was born in Spring Valley on September 26, 1936 to Lloyd and Alice (Platt) Mitchell.  He served with the US Army in 1960.  He married Rita Pozzi on December 12, 1980.
Mitch farmed and owned Mitchell’s Services as a mechanic and did body shop work.
Mitch loved training horses.  He enjoyed along with Rita, fishing, traveling and going to Las Vegas, going to rodeo’s, car races and flea markets.
He is survived by his wife Rita of Peru; four children, Ruth (Daniel) Neidetcher of Arlington, Patricia (Daniel) Bardell of Peru, Debra (Tim) Lewis of Seatonville and Robert Mitchell of Cherry; five grandchildren, Katie, Kelsey, Tiffany, Kristen and Kyle; and two great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Darlene Orville and one brother Lloyd Mitchell Jr.
Pallbearers will be Dan Bardell, Dan Neidetcher, Tim Lewis, Katie Neidetcher, Kelsey Neidetcher and Tiffany Bardell.
