John D. Kalina, 52, of Utica died December 24, 2017 in Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be private at a later date. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Kalina was born in Faribault, MN on July 17, 1965 to Francis and Beverly (Sindelar) Kalina. He worked as a dental lab technician. He enjoyed fishing, hot rods and being outdoors. He loved being a musician. John was always willing to help anyone in need.
John is survived by two brothers Mark and Jim Kalina; two stepbrothers Tom (Jane) Pomije and Richard (Cheryl) Pomije; four stepsisters Deb (Mike) Forkins, Nannette (Jim) Greenfield, Mary Pomije, and Susan (Clayton) Bosquez; his companion of many years Peggy Mohkovic; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Jeff and David Kalina, one sister Katie, two stepsisters Sharon Olson and Arlene Pomije; and one stepbrother Bob Pomije Jr.
