Janet Ann "Jani" Brandner

Janet Ann “Jani” Brandner, 79, of Mendota went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday December 14, 2018 in her home, surrounded by her family, losing a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Jani’s Celebration of Life will be at Mendota Bible Church at 4129 N State Hwy 251, Mendota on Thursday December 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Brian Kelly and longtime friend Rev. Bill Bufton presiding. A luncheon will be served afterwards at the church. Visitation will be in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle on Wednesday December 19, 2018 from 4-7:00 PM.

Jani was born in La Salle on May 24, 1939 to Elmer “Chip” and Winifred (Weber) Gmeiner. She loved her family, her friends, her church, and her dogs (and granddogs). She graduated from LP High School in 1957 and married Donald Brandner on June 10, 1960.

She loved her family with all her heart and was loved so very much by all of them. She is survived by her husband Donald “Ducky” Brandner; her brother Gerald (Joannie) Gmeiner; five children Donald (Karen) Brandner Jr., David (Dorothy) Brandner, Lisa (Michael) Papp, Jennifer (Ken Sparks) Brandner, and Jason Brandner; eighteen grandchildren Mathias, Andrew, Katherine, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, Rachel, Lukas, Grace, Aaron, Logan, and Lucie Brandner, Joseph, Emily, and Daniel Papp, Logan Sparks, Thanh Nguyen, and Daniel Francis.
