Dorothy A. (Bildhauer) Kolanowski

Dorothy A. (Bildhauer) Kolanowski, 98, formerly of La Salle died with her family by her side on December 23, 2017 in Aperion Care Nursing Home in Spring Valley after a long and painful journey. Another angel went to meet our Lord.

Cremation rites have been accorded and private family burial of her ashes will be Saturday at 11:00 AM in St. Vincent’s Cemetery in La Salle. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Kolanowski was born on December 14, 1919 in La Salle to Matt and Mary (Koplenik) Bildhauer. She married Donald Harrison. After he passed away, she then married Raymond Kolanowski on March 5, 1968. He also preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and had worked at Westclox and Eicore. Dorothy always had a smile on her face and was a best friend to everyone she met. She was a talented seamstress and there was nothing she couldn’t do. Dorothy loved working in her yard, refinishing antiques, and going to yard sales. Dorothy was a graduate of La Salle – Peru Township High School and a member of St. Roch’s Church in La Salle.

Mrs. Kolanowski is survived by her daughter Karyn Gehm of La Salle; stepson Randy Kolanowski of Spring Valley; two grandchildren Todd (Jaci) Ferguson of Peru and Tara (Charles) Kraft of Joliet; five great grandchildren Austyn, Sheridan, Payton, Carrie, and Alyssa; and four great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, one son Donald Harrison, one brother Mathias Bildhauer, and five sisters Josephine Brongel, Mary Piletic, Agnes Harth, Jane McConnell, and her twin sister Betty Lindner.
