Doris "Susie" Sue (Lamkin) Allen

Doris Sue “Susie” Allen, 77, of Ladd passed away April 17, 2019 in Heritage Health of Peru.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday April 27th in the Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd with Rev. Gregory Jarzombek OSB officiating. Burial will be in Ladd Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 AM Saturday until time of services in the funeral home.

Mrs. Allen was born in Spring Valley on August 21, 1941 to Alton and Doris (Haywood) Lamkin. She married Ronald E. Allen on December 1, 1963. She graduated from DePue High School in 1959. Mrs. Allen worked as deputy clerk for the Village of Ladd for many years. She was a member of St. Benedict’s church, Ladd School’s PTO, and former member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was always there to help others.

Mrs. Allen is survived by her son John (Lisa) Allen of Ladd; one daughter Cindy Allen of Spring Valley; two grandsons Zack Allen of Ladd Brandon Allen of Bureau; two brothers Mickey (Becky) Lamkin of Troy Grove and Ricky Lamkin of Van Orin; seven sisters Joyce (Bill) Kohr of Cherry, Carol Anderson of California, Joan (Frank) Bartkus of Spring Valley, Janet (Don) Weber of North Carolina, Nora (Mark) Geuther of LaMoille, Jolyn Whitfield of Bloomington, and Adel Thompson of Hennepin; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Abby.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ron in 2004, her parents, and three brother Bob, Tom, and Bill Lamkin.
