Doris Darlene Skaggs

Doris Darlene Skaggs, 90, of Wenona, died peacefully at home on August 22, 2017.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church in Wenona with Rev. Peter M. Glock officiating.  Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Wenona.  Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services.  The Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona is handling her arrangements.

Doris was born in Wenona on October 16, 1926 to Lewis Herman and Elta Julia (Volkert) Winkel.  She married Shelly Skaggs on May 29, 1945.  Doris retired as a telephone operator for GTE.  She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Zion Ladies Aid.  She enjoyed painting, playing cards and sitting on her front porch.

Doris is survived by one son, Russell (Chi) Skaggs of Wenona; four grandchildren, Russell Skaggs of Wenona, Chris (Beth) Skaggs of Fort Myers, FL, Scott (Karen) Skaggs of Sheboygan, WI and Erin (Ryan) Hill of Woodbury, MN; ten great-grandchildren; Doris' former daughter-in-law Leone Skaggs of Wenona; one sister Lois (Tom) Colgan of Normal.

She was preceded in death by her husband Shelly on March 29, 2005 and one sister Marilyn Christ.
