Christopher W. Long

Christopher W. Long, 50, of Wenona, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on February 26, 2019 in Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria after a battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 AM Saturday in St. Mary’s Church in Wenona with the Franciscian Friars officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be 4 to 7:00 PM Friday in the Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona and 9:30 AM Saturday in the church until time of services.

Chris was born in Streator on April 13, 1968 to Lloyd “Butch” and Charlotte (Zulz) Long.  He married Jaci Sherwood on July 30, 1988.  Chris worked in maintenance at SMF. Inc in Minonk for 22 years.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He enjoyed his job at SMF and the people he worked with.  Chris’s hobbies include working on cars, going to car shows, Mopar, and playing his guitar. He was also in the band Justice for 12 years as a guitarist.  

Chris is survived by his mother Charlotte of Wenona; two sons, Brandon (Ashley) Long of Wenona and Jared (Adilene Trujillo) Long of Toluca; one daughter, Carli (Broc Hovey) Long of Rutland; six grandchildren, Emma, Cloe, Daxx, Natalie, Tanner and Ellie.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Pallbearers will be Brandon and Jared Long, Michael and Greg O’Connell, Darren Swanson and Bill Swartz.
