Charles "Joe" Ballard

Charles “Joe” Ballard, 79, of Wenona died June 19, 2017 in OSF Health of Streator.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial visitation will be Friday July 21 from 2-4:00 PM in the Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona. A dinner will follow in the Wenona Park. Burial of his ashes will be at a later date in Hillcrest Cemetery in Streator.

Mr. Ballard was born in Palmer on September 5, 1937 to Glenn and Nora Almena (Durbin) Ballard. He married Ella J. Simmons on January 12, 1957. He worked at Owen’s Glass in Streator as a furnace tender and retired from there in 1993.

Mr. Ballard is survived by his daughters Carla Ballard of FL, Carol (Bob) Spangler of Wenona, and Wendy (Skip) Biba of Oglesby whom he raised as a child; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters Sue (Dan) Greer of Anchorage, AK and Ethel (Jimmy) Childs of Harco; and one brother Glenn “Bill” Ballard of Dana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ella on January 26, 2014, one daughter Charlene Junker, and three sisters.
