Camilla A. Sarver, 81, of Peru passed away May 17, 2019 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Wednesday in Nativity of Our Lord in Spring Valley with Rev. Scott Pothoff officiating. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley. Visitation will be 4-7:00 PM Tuesday at the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. Additional visitation will be 10-10:45 AM Wednesday in the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 3:45 PM prior to the visitation in the funeral home on Tuesday.
Mrs. Sarver was born in Spring Valley on May 16, 1938 to Matthew and Catherine (Ray) Rumsavich. She was a graduate of Hall High School. She married Hubert “Huby” Sarver. Mrs. Sarver attended Illinois State University for her undergraduate studies and then received a double Master’s Degree in English Composition and Literature from University of Illinois. She was a teacher for 42 years with 28 of those years at St. Roch’s/La Salle Catholic School. She and her husband also owned and operated Hub’s Pub in Peru for sixteen years.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Sarver sang for weddings, and she was a director of the St. Joseph’s and St. Benedict’s Church choir. She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Church in Spring Valley. She was an extremely proud fan of the Chicago Cubs. She also enjoyed watching LP baseball, which her husband coached, and football with her son, Greg coaching. For many years, the family drove to Six Mile Lake in northern Minnesota to go fishing. Mrs. Sarver loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and her greatest joy was being a noni.
Mrs. Sarver is survived by her sons Greg (Larisa) Sarver and Brian (Karen) Sarver both of La Salle; daughter Kathy (Tim) Eldridge of La Salle; seven grandchildren Matthew (Karli), Katherine (Matt), Gregory (Stephanie), Camry, Mickael, Beth, and Hope; four great grandchildren Mailla, Jonathon, Nevaeh, and Koltyn.
She was preceded in death by her husband Huby on October 5, 2007, daughter Kristine, and one granddaughter Kayla.
