Betty Lucas

Betty Lucas, 88, of La Salle passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Wednesday July 18, 2018.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with the Very Rev. Paul Carlson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Vincent’s Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 AM until time of services.

Mrs. Lucas was born in Peru on February 23, 1930 to Casper and Margaret (Ampusittis) Engelman. On January 10, 1948, she married James T. Lucas. Mrs. Lucas worked at and retired from the NewsTribune.

Betty enjoyed spending time with family and friends at her cabin on Lake Senachewine. She loved fishing, gardening, and playing cards. Her winter hobbies were baking, cooking, and enjoying family and friends.

Mrs. Lucas is survived by one daughter Linda (Lance) Laurence of Peru; two sons James Lucas of La Salle and Gary (Rhonda) Lucas of Princeton; four grandchildren Jason (Lori) Tomlinson, Dustin (Jenny) Brown, Dillon and Cody Lucas; and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on October 14, 1999, a son Michael in infancy, a granddaughter Holly Tomlinson on August 22, 1988, and three sisters Pearl Evelhoch, Carol Skowronski, and Patsy Reynolds.

Pallbearers will be Jason Tomlinson, Dustin Brown, Bill Skowronski, Tom Zawacki, Tyler Pinter, and Edgar Phillips.
