Baudelio M. “Bob” Padilla, 87, of La Salle, passed away December 12, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria after a sudden illness.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 AM Saturday in St. Joseph’s Church in Peru.  Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley with full military honors. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle.  Additional visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until time of services.

Mr. Padilla was born on May 20, 1930 in DePue to Sabino and Barbara (Manrriquez) Padilla.  He graduated from DePue High School in 1950.  He worked at DePue New Jersey Zinc and later served his country in the US Army in Korea. On November 16, 1957, he married Jessie Ann Stegen in St. Mary’s Church in DePue.  They celebrated 60 years of marriage just four weeks before his death.

Bob worked as a bus driver for La Salle-Peru City Bus Line.  Later, he worked for Caterpillar in Aurora for 25 years, and retired in November of 1990.  Upon retirement, he worked part-time for Econo Foods and Test Water Treatment in Peru. He enjoyed fishing, listening to Latin music, talking to people, and spending time with his family.  Bob was a life-time member of the DePue VFW and member of Better Fishing Association of Northern Illinois. 

Bob is survived by his wife, Jessie of La Salle; two sons, Bruce Padilla of Utica and Brian (Lisa) Padilla of Spring Valley; one daughter Debra (James) Hautala of East Peoria; three granddaughters, Nicole (Benjamin) Evans of Lostant, Amber Padilla of Peru, and Liliana Hautala of East Peoria; one brother Solomon (Carol) Padilla of Peru; two sisters, Mary Koplin of Peru and Sophia (James) Salerno of Independence, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Seberina Galindo, Guadalupe Bantista, Fernanda Moreno and Angelina Postula; three brothers, John, Joseph, and Jesus Padilla.

Memorials may be directed to Safe House Animal Rescue League or donor’s choice.
