Barney “Bud” Bima

Barney “Bud” Bima Jr. ,81, of La Moille, passed away May 26, 2019, at Aperion Care in Spring Valley.Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 AM Thursday in Holy Cross Church in Mendota. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in La Salle. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:00 PM Wednesday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. Additional visitation will be in the church on Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of services.

Barney was born in Hennepin on March 12, 1938, to Barney and Mary (Vacca) Bima, Sr. He married Janice A. Hughett on October 14, 1961. He worked as a Foreman at Phalen Steel in Mendota and farmed.Barney was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and coached his sons in baseball. He enjoyed all his grandchildren’s events and loved to farm. He was a member of Holy Cross Church and Iron Workers Local.

Barney is survived by a daughter, Audra (Dave) Bima-Smith of Ladd, two sons: Robert (Lynette) Bima of Princeton, and Ken (Nikole) Bima of Springfield, eight grandchildren: Damin, Keaton, Olivia, Logan, Hanna, Lauren, Madeline and Jackson; one brother, John Bima of Hennepin, and one sister Kathryn Waldschmidt.

He was preceded in death by his wife Janice on November 18, 2016, his parents and one sister, Emma Zeilinski.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Memorials can be made to St. Bede Academy or Bureau County Food Pantry.
