Armondo E. Romanelli

September 10, 1922 ~ August 25, 2011 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Armondo E. Romanelli 88, a resident of the Veteran's Home in LaSalle for the past 20 months and formerly of Arlington, died at 7:00 pm August 25,2011 in the Illinois Veteran's Home in LaSalle.  Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Thursday in Holy Trinity Church in Cherry with Rev Patrick Fixsen officiating.  Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Cherry with full military services conducted by the Ladd American Legion.  Visitation will be from 9:00 am Thursday until time of services in the church.  The Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd is handling arrangements.  Armando was born in Cherry on September 10,1922 to Ernest and Ida(Filippi)Romanelli.  He was a graduate of Hall High School.  Mr Romanelli entered the US Army in January of 1943 and served with the 487th Bombardment Group of the 8th Air Force in England.  He was a tail gunner on a B-17, discharged as a Sergeant in December of 1945.  Armando married Josephine Rose Schmidt on July 28,1945 in Peterstown and farmed in the Arlington and Cherry area until retirement.  He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish in Cherry and the Ladd American Legion.  Mr Romanelli is survived by six children, Paula(David)Brown of Cherry, Ralph(Peg)Romanelli of Rock Falls, Linda Fusinetti of Peru, Mary(Mike)Dremann of Princeton, John Romanelli of rural Arlington and Karen(Steve)Stremlau of rural Mendota.  Sixteen grandchildren, Ann(Casey)Lage,Sue(Dave)Huss,Bryony(Raphael)Altamirano,Marisa and Leah Romanelli,Michele Fusinetti,Stephanie(Vern)Johnson,Rose Maioli,Lori(Jeremy)Fry,Lana(Jason)McLaughlin,John and Joseph Romanelli,Kyle(Anna)Kurt,Kory and Konner Stremlau.  Seven great-children,Brianna,Elizabeth,Angela Huss, Celi Johnson, Juliana Bernardi,Giovanni Gatza and Edward Fry.  One sister, Celia Murphy of Waukegan.  He was preceded in death by his wife on March 26,2007 and two sisters,Yolanda Monge and Jane Becherini.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial is established at Illinois Veteran's Home in LaSalle or St. Margaret's Hospice.  Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
