John McAllister

John McAllister, 79, of Wenona, passed away April 4, 2024 in Lacon Rehab and Nursing.

Visitation will be 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM Saturday, April 13, in the Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona.  Cremation to follow.  

John was born in Spring Valley on October 25, 1944 to Park and Marian (Thelma) McAllister.  He married Brenda White on December 4, 1973 in Eureka, IL.  He was a Illinois State Police Officer from February 26, 1968 until his retirement on December 31, 1996.  He then was a janitor at Fieldcrest School in Wenona for several years.

John was a volunteer fireman for Wenona Fire Department and a member of Fraternal Order of Police.

He is survived by his wife Brenda of Wenona; one son Jon McAllister of Wenona; two daughters, Molly Hill of Peoria and Melissa Waterman of Peoria; two grandchildren, Pierce and Zoey; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Tom, Pete, Bud, Pat and Bill McAllister and one sister Marjorie Rossetti.
