Susan L. (Marinangeli) Vickery

Susan L. Vickery, 97, of La Salle died at 9:30 AM on April 8, 2016 in Heritage Health in Peru.

Memorial visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-7:00 PM in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. Burial of ashes will be at a later date in St. Vincent’s Cemetery in La Salle.

Mrs. Vickery was born June 14, 1918 in La Salle to Mike and Maria (Menghini) Marinangeli. She married Earl K. Vickery on March 16, 1940 at Holy Rosary Church in La Salle.

Susan worked and retired from Westclox. Never idle after retiring she began and helped operate Vic’s Bait shop from 1980 to 1990. Susan then worked part-time from 1990-2002. Susan loved to travel with her children and grandchildren to sight see, visit relatives, and fish. She was inducted into the Fishing Hall of Fame in Hayward, WI after catching the biggest walleye at Lost Land Lakes for the year.

Mrs. Vickery is survived by two daughters Carole (Jerry) McDaniel and Janet (Dan) Farley; three sons Earl (Mary) Vickery, Craig (Laura) Vickery, and Hollis Vickery; six grandchildren Bill, Pam, Paul, Griffin, Ceph, and Dawn; seven great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband on August 1, 2003, two daughters Gail Raley and Sharon Wilson, and eight brothers and sisters.
