Robert J. Ciesielski, 82, of 917 Second Street, La Salle passed away at 12:42 AM on February 12, 2016 in the OSF Richard L. Owen’s Hospice Home in Peoria.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday in St. Patrick’s Church in La Salle with the Very Rev. Antonio Dittmer, Pastor of La Salle Catholic Parishes, officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until time of services. Burial will be in St. Valentine’s Cemetery in Spring Valley with full military honors. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting his family.
Bob was born in Chicago on June 12, 1933 to Joseph and Florence (Burns) Ciesielski. He served with the US Navy for 12 years serving on the USS La Salle. He was sent home to represent the Navy in 1964 when the USS was commissioned in honor of the town La Salle. He married Sharon Frackowiak on April 17, 1971. Bob worked at Sigmund’s Electric in Peru, and then he retired as an appliance repairman for Shanley’s in Ottawa.
Bob was a long time and past officer of the La Salle Knight of Columbus. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and Peru Eagle’s Lodge.
He is survived by his wife Sharon of La Salle; one daughter Bonnie Peavey of GA; one son Bryan (Gina) Ciesielski of German Hills; two granddaughters Jordyn and Kailey; four brothers Joseph (Darlene) Ciesielski of Aurora, Thomas (Shirley) Ciesielski of La Salle, Donald (Marilyn) Ciesielski of Somonauk, and Kenneth (Christine) Ciesielski of AZ.
He is preceded in death by one sister Doris Smith and one brother Paul (Diane) Ciesielski.
