Rae Angela (Vela) Pavy

Rae Angela (Vela) Pavy, 64, of LaSalle passed away March 19, 2017.

Private family services will be held at Hurst Funeral Home on Thursday. 

Rae was born August 1, 1952 to Lucio and Delores (Alvarado) Vela in Gary, IN. She married Michael Pavy on December 7, 1971. She attended LaSalle-Peru High School. She graduated from Illinois Valley Community College, earning her certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1979. Over her 30 year nursing career, she cared for patients at People's Hospital (IVCH), private practices, and Illinois Veterans Home. She was a member and supporter of AFSCME Local 31, where she also served as union president for several years. Rae enjoyed devoting her time serving as a local election judge, which matched her interest in politics. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Michael; daughters Michele (Rick) Langham of Ashburn, VA and Janel of Chicago; sons Clifton (Amy Davis) of LaSalle and Jacob (Melissa Rancingay) of Pekin; seven grandchildren: Aaron, Luke, Hudson, Amya, Alyssa, Adian, and Adrianna; four sisters: Teresa (Rick) Pavy, Christine (Gerald) Happ, Louise (Don) Rey, and Toni (Tim) Ellis; three brothers: Bob, Steve (Laurie Shipp), and Paul (Susan) Vela and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Frank Vela; and other close family members.
