Norman C. Dalton

Norman C. Dalton, 77, of La Salle died unexpectedly at home surrounded by his family on April 24, 2017.

Mass of a Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday in St. Patrick’s Church in La Salle with The Very Rev. Paul Carlson officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in DePue. Visitation will be in the church on Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of services.  The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is handling arrangements.

Norman was born in Lee County on August 11, 1939 to Russell and Hilda (Frey) Dalton.  He married Mary Jo Rauh on October 23, 1993. He worked for the State of Illinois. 

He loved his family especially spending time with his grandchildren and taking them to the park. He was an avid reader. He enjoyed being outdoors and horse racing.

Norman is survived by his wife Mary Jo of La Salle; children, Jeffrey (Joy) Sterling of Mendota, Chris (Martha) Dalton of Stuart, FL, Erinn (Bob) Johns of La Salle, and Jenny (Rusty) Stachlewitz of Mendota; five grandchildren, Perri Stachlewitz, Ella and Lainey Johns, Danielle Murphy, and Haley Sterling; three great-grandchildren; four sisters Marjorie McFarland, Shirley (Jim) Johnson, Joan (Ray) Devault, and Judy Stewart, all of Mendota; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Robert and Donald Dalton and one granddaughter Candace Sterling.
