Loretta C. (Grivetti) Lorenzi

Loretta C. Lorenzi, 89, of Ladd passed away Tuesday September 15, 2015 at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley.

Mass of Christian burial will be on Friday at 10:30 AM in The Nativity of Our Lord Church at 510 Richard A. Mautino Drive, Spring Valley with her nephew Rev. Ronald Margherio, O.S.B. and Rev. Robert Spilman officiating. Visitation will be in the church from 9:30 AM until time of services. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Cemetery in Spring Valley. The Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Mrs. Lorenzi was born on April 15, 1926 to Anton and Ida (Gualandri) Grivetti. She married Joseph Lorenzi on January 18, 1947. Mrs. Lorenzi enjoyed baking, spending time with family & friends, and dancing with her husband while listening to her sons’ band Selby Street.  She worked at her Uncle Rip’s Tavern in Ladd and was a favorite waitress for more than 20 years at The Hotel Kaskaskia. Loretta was also a parish member of St Benedict’s Church in Ladd.

Mrs. Lorenzi is survived by her daughter Joyce Scriba of LaMoille; three sons Joe (Joan) Lorenzi of Ladd, Bruce (Gail) Lorenzi of Aurora, and Brian Lorenzi of Aurora; daugher-in-law Debbie Lorenzi of Ladd; three sisters Laura Margherio of Ladd, Mary Teresa (Joseph) Franco of Kankakee, and Sandra (Wallner) Grivetti of Ladd; 9 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph; her son Mark Lorenzi; son-in-law Jim Scriba; three brothers Ralph, Lee, and Richard; two sisters Dorothy and Lucille.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Bede Academy or St Margaret’s Hospice.
