Katherine "Katy" Calkins

Katherine "Katy" Calkins, 91 of Deer Park, died at 12:07 AM February 8, 2016 in Manor Court of Peru.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with Dr. Rev. Ralph Deming officiating.  Burial will be in Deer Park Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home from 9:30 AM until time of services.
Mrs. Calkins was born in La Salle on June 20, 1924 to Robert and Mabel (Crane) Stevenson.  She married Raymond Calkins on February 27, 1944.  She lived in Deer Park Township all her life. She helped her husband on the family farm. She was a member of Deer Park Community Church.  Mrs. Calkins was a Gold Star mother.
She is survived by one daughter, Karon (Frank) Christman of Sebastian, FL.;  two grandchildren, Jason Olson of Tonica and Kelli (Steve) Rietgraf of Peru; great- grandchildren, Clayton and Austin Pijanowski, Payton and McKenna Rietgraf, Allison and Natalie Olson and Kari; great-great granddaughter Emery Pijanowski; one brother Glenn (Dorothy) Stevenson of Waltham Township and two sisters, Anne Finley of Peru and Carol Edgecomb of Spring Valley.
Mrs. Calkins was preceded in death by her husband Ray on January 22, 1981, one son Cody Calkins (who was killed in the Vietnam War on July 12, 1969 and a granddaughter Johnelle Pijanowski on October 23, 2009.
