Joan M. Nolasco, 81, of La Salle, died October 9, 2016 in Heritage Health in Peru. 

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 AM Saturday in St. Hyacinth’s Church in La Salle with Rev. Jacob Valle officiating.  Burial will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery in La Salle at a later date.  Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services.  The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle assisting her family.

Mrs. Nolasco was born in La Salle on November 19, 1934 to Max W. and Martha V. (Wyciskala) Morscheiser.  She married Raymond “Whitey” Nolasco on January 10, 1953 in La Salle.  Joan graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School.  She worked at Westclox and then became a homemaker with the birth of her first child.  Joan was a member of St. Hyacinth’s Church.  She was past member of Resurrection Church in La Salle where she was active in the Sanctuary and Rosary Society, visiting parish members in the hospital and sending them cards.  She also volunteered at St. Roch’s School in La Salle.  More than anything else, Joan enjoyed spending time with her family.  Holidays were spent playing cards and board games.  She loved watching her grandchildren at their sporting events and attending their various school activities, especially Grandparents’s Day.  Joan was a huge Chicago Cubs and Oakland Raider’s fan.  She was a great baker and cook.  She loved playing bingo with her friends, reading, doing word puzzles, and traveling.

Joan is survived by her husband Raymond; one son Raymond R. (Sue) Nolasco of Spring Valley; two daughters, Cheryl L. Weistart of La Salle and Patricia A. Nolasco of Dunlap;  grandchildren Brian A. Nolasco, Daniel R. Nolasco and Gabrielle R. Nolasco.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother.
