Janice A. Bima

Janice A. Bima, 74, of LaMoille, died surrounded by her family on November 18, 2016 in St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday in Holy Cross Church in Mendota with Rev. Joel Phelps and Deacon Vince Slomian officiating.  Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in La Salle.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7:00 PM Tuesday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle and in the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of services.

Mrs. Bima was born in La Salle on December 19, 1941, to Robert L. and Hattie (Kapinski) Hughett.  She married Barney Bima on October 14, 1961.  Janice was a registered nurse.  She graduated from the Illinois Valley Community College nursing program and received her Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from Northern Illinois University. She worked at IVCH, in-home care, Elder World and Mendota Lutheran Home.

Mrs. Bima loved her grandkids and attending their activities.  She enjoyed pottery, shopping, sitting on her front porch, and anything to do with Dragon Flies. She was a member of Holy Cross Church and its Holy Rosary Society.

She is survived by her husband Barney of LaMoille; one daughter, Audra (Dave) Bima-Smith of Ladd; two sons, Robert (Lynette) Bima of Princeton and Ken (Nicole) Bima of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Damin, Keaton, Olivia, Logan, Hanna, Lauren, Madeline and Jackson;  one sister, Carol Gugerty of Princeton, and one brother, James (Becky) Hughett of La Salle.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

Donations may be directed towards American Diabetes Association, Saint Bede Academy, and Illinois Valley Food Pantry.
