Gertie N. Bennett

Gertie N. Bennett, 103, of La Salle, passed away November 13, 2017 in Heritage Health Care in Peru.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle with Rev. Oscar Shepherd and Rev. Nathan Lambie officiating.  Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in La Salle.  Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM Friday and Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services.

Mrs. Bennett was born in McLeansboro on May 17, 1914 to Willis Loren and Eda Parilie (Trout) Mick.  She married Milton Bennett on February 3, 1932.  She enjoyed sewing, cooking, spending time in her flower garden and feeding friends and family.  She loved her family.

Mrs. Bennett is survived by two daughters, Parilie Edwards of La Salle and Virginia Faletti of Spring Valley; six grandchildren, Karen, Robert, Denise, Jimmy, Jille and Drew; four great-grandchildren, Anthony, Amanda, Raven and Brady; three great-great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Ryan and Josiah.

She was preceded in death by her husband on August 19, 1996, a daughter Goldia Faletti, son Hillary Bennett in infancy, son-in-law John Edwards, granddaughter Nora Edwards, great-granddaughter Nora Faletti, and three brothers, Warner, Walter and Stanley Mick.

Pallbearers will be Drew, Robert and Jimmy Faletti, Anthony and Jim Watson and Brady Noramczyk.
