Genevieve "Jean" M. (Luciano) Petelin

  Genevieve “Jean” Petelin, 91, of LaSalle, passed away at 11:45 PM Tuesday (Sept. 29, 2015) at Heritage Health in Peru.

  Funeral Mass will be at 11 AM Saturday in Holy Rosary Church in LaSalle.  The Rev. Paul Carlson will officiate.  Burial will be in St. Vincent’s Cemetery in LaSalle. 

  A visitation will be held from 9 AM until 10:45 AM Saturday at the Hurst Funeral Home in LaSalle.

  She was born June 19, 1924 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Pasquale and Angelina Luciano.  She married Herman “Huzzy” Petelin on June 9, 1946 in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Jersey City, New Jersey.

  She was a crossing guard in LaSalle and also worked at the Gift Box.  She was a former member of Resurrection Church and also the Altar & Rosary Society.

  Genevieve is survived by three sons, Patrick (Linda) Petelin of LaSalle, James (Jo Ellen) Petelin of Chico, CA and John (Janet ) Petelin of LaSalle; seven grandchildren:  Dr. Andrew Petelin, Amy (Tom) Turri and A.J., James, Anna, Merri and Megan Petelin; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Anna Logan of New Jersey and nieces and nephews.

  She was preceded in death by her husband in 2007, one sister, Dorothy and her brother Dominic.

  Memorials may be directed to the Illinois Valley Hospice.
