Fred C. Lord Jr.

Fred C. Lord, Jr., 75, of El Paso passed away at 5:25: AM on April 22, 2017 in St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley.

The Hurst Funeral Home in LaSalle has been entrusted with carrying out Fred’s wishes of Cremation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Fred was born on September 3, 1941, in Kansas City, MO to Fred Lord Sr. and Nancy Ray Lord. Fred graduated from Galva High School in 1959 and went on to graduate from the University of Illinois. He married Jean M. Gradert on December 26, 1964 in Geneseo, IL. He worked for the Wisconsin-Michigan Power Company in Iron Mountain, MI. Fred then served as a First Lieutenant in the Army stationed in Aberdeen, MD. After the Army, Fred worked with his father at Lord Chevrolet in Galva, IL and continued Lord Chevrolet after his father’s passing. After owning and operating Lord Chevrolet for over three decades, Fred retired and moved closer to his family in El Paso, IL. Fred’s greatest joy was to show the love he had for his family.

Over the years, Fred enjoyed racquetball, jogging, snowmobiling, and attending sporting events. His true passion was spending time with his children and grandchildren, golfing, and of course, pinching the penny.

Mr. Lord is survived by his wife Jean; one son Judd Lord of McCordsville, IN; one daughter Kim (Scott) Lord Coppejans of El Paso; four grandchildren Mia Lord (Judd); Ryan, Jordyn, and Hannah Coppejans (Kim); two sisters Nancy Jane (Roger) Ingels of Galva and Patricia (BJ) Johnson of Mt. Carmel, IL.

Memorials may be made to St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley, IL and the Veterans Home in LaSalle, IL.
