Douglas Ray Volker

Douglas Ray Volker, 49, of El Paso, formerly of Wenona, died at home on May 23, 2017 after a long battle with Diabetes. 

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday in the United Methodist Church of El Paso with the Rev. Becky Barrow officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services. A luncheon will be served in the church after services followed by burial in Wenona Cemetery at 2:30 PM. The Hurst Funeral Home in Wenona is assisting the family with arrangements.

Doug was born in Streator on January 22, 1968 to Charles and Carol (McClure) Volker. Doug graduated from Wenona High School in 1986 and Illinois Wesleyan University in 1992. He worked for LifeLine Ambulance Service in Bloomington, then El Paso Ambulance Service, and later Down State Imaging. Doug was very dedicated to the United Methodist Church in El Paso and Fellowship Friday. He was an avid Cubs fan , and also enjoyed cooking, gardening, woodworking, and working with his service dog, Neo. Doug was very proud of his boys and the fine young men they turned out to be.

Doug is survived by his father Charles Volker of Wenona; one sister Sara (Scott) Strauch of Toluca; his former spouse Valerie Volker of Panola; three sons Brandon and Gavin of Panola and USMC Justin (Becky) Volker of Camp Lejeune, NC; a grandbaby on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Carol on March 10, 2017 and his grandparents.
