Delores E. “Tootie” Aaron, 96, of 1909 West St. Peru, died at 12:03 PM November 13, 2015 in Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru. She was a resident of Heritage Health of Peru since May.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 AM on Wednesday November 25, 2015 in St. Mary’s Church in Peru with Msgr. Brian Rejsek and Father Gregory Jarzombek OSB officiating. Burial will be in Peru City Cemetery. Visitation will be in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle on Tuesday from 3-6:00 PM with a rosary to be recited at 5:45 PM. Additional visitation will be in the church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until time of services.
Delores was born in Ladd on March 21, 1919 to Lawrence and Angelina (Fusinetti) Buff. She married Edward “Mook” Aaron on December 13, 1941. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Church for years. Her philosophy was, “Live simple, work hard, care for other, promote the best in people, and be generous. God will do the rest.” She will be remembered for baking bread and making delicious soups for family and friends. When the garden was ready, she canned and froze vegetables to be given away.
Delores is survived by her daughter Mary (Rick) Hurst of Schaumburg. She was a cherished grandmother to Michelle (John) Sinnaeve and Megan Zito, as well as great grandmother to Nolan, Jared, and Keegan. She is also survived by one remaining sister Denise (John) Miner of Ottawa.
She was preceded in death by her husband and six sisters Ann Herbert, Lena Buckwalter, Yolanda Ryan, Irene Wagner, Amy Schmitt, and Loretta Stubblefield.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Illinois Valley Food Pantry.
