Darlene R. Orval

Darlene R. Orval, 88, formerly of Ladd, died April 16, 2017 in the Davenport Lutheran Home in Davenport, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday in the Hurst Funeral Home in Ladd with Rev. Alex Garncarz, Pastor of Zion United  Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of services in the funeral home.

Mrs. Orval was born in Peru on January 9, 1929 to Lloyd and Alice (Platt) Mitchell. She married Camille J. Orval Jr. in St. Benedict’s Church in Ladd on September 4, 1948. She worked at Westclox and then retired from Hobbs in Spring Valley.

Mrs. Orval loved spending time with her family, shopping, and going out to dinner.

Mrs. Orval is survived by one son Kevin (Anne) Orval of Park View, IA; two daughters Rhea (Tom) Chasteen of Ladd and Sheryl Ridley of Gretna, NE; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; and one brother Lawrence (Rita) Mitchell of Peru.

She was preceded in death by her husband on August 6, 2004, son-in-law Rev. Roger Ridley, one grandson in infancy, and one brother Lloyd Mitchell Jr.

Pallbearers will be Austin Orval; Roger Ridley Jr.; Darren Chasteen; Mike, Gary, and George Garncarz.
