Arthur M. Butler Jr.

Arthur Mahlon Butler Jr., 87, of Peru, formerly of Park Forest, died the evening of December 11, 2017 in Illinois Valley Community Hospital.

Cremation rites have been accorded and memorial services will be at a later date. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting his family with arrangements.

Mr. Butler was born in Montclair, NJ on May 21, 1930 to Arthur M. and Dorothea (Palmer) Butler Sr. He graduated from Montclair High School in 1949. He was a 1953 graduate of University of Delaware, where he received his B.S. in Agricultural Science. Arthur married Joyce Copenhaver on October 25, 1952. He worked at Allied Chemical as an Account Executive from 1953-1992. He was president of the Chicago Perfumers, Soap, and Extract Association. He was a member of Lansing Country Club since 1997. Also, he was a lifelong member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. Arthur was an officer for Park Forest Toastmasters, treasurer of Richton Park Area Chamber. He was an avid golfer and followed Indy car racing.

Mr. Butler is survived by his wife Joyce of Peru; one son Arthur M. (Linda) Butler III of Warren, OH and their children Joey (Jennifer) Shesko, Philip Shesko, Matthew (Sarah) Shesko, and Ryan (Lori) Butler; one daughter Sandra (Peter) Loveland of Spring Valley and their children David (Aseret) Loveland, Audra Loveland, and Erica Loveland; 10 great grandchildren; and one niece Ashley (Cody) Heimann.

He was preceded in death by one brother John Kenneth Butler.
