Albert C. Tomaszewski

Albert C. Tomaszewski, 88, of Peru passed away Monday May 15, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peru with Rev. Timothy Kenyon officiating. Burial will follow at Peru City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8:00 PM in the church on Wednesday and additional visitation on Thursday from 10:00 AM until time of services. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting the family with arrangements.

Albert was born February 8, 1929 to Charles and Clara (Wiese) Tomaszewski. He married Shirley Watts on August 21, 1955, and they were happily married for 58 years. Albert was a farmer for almost his entire life. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he served on the church council numerous times and was president for many years, was an usher, communion server and chairman of the call committee. Albert also served on the Dimmick School Board for 12 years, and was also a past president of the board. He served four years on the La Salle County Farm Bureau Board. Albert also served for 30 years and was past president of the Dimmick Rural Fire Protection Board. He sold seed for Pride, DeKalb, and Pioneer Seed for many years. Albert enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by one daughter Julie (Mark) Nowakowski; one son Dennis (Debra) Tomaszewski; daughter-in-law Reneé Davis; six grandchildren Alyssa, Luke, Caleb, and Kai Tomaszewski, Matthew and Kevin Nowakowski; two sisters Hattie (Jim) Jenkins and Laura (Lee) Wyatt; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, two sons Randy and Glenn Tomaszewski, two sisters, and his parents.

Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church or St. Margaret’s Hospice.
