Adolph “Bull” L. Gnidovic, 89, of La Salle, died October 11, 2017 in Illinois Valley Community Hospital.
Mass of Christian burial will be 12:00 PM Saturday in St. Hyacinth’s Church in La Salle. Burial will be in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery in La Salle with full military honors conducted by the La Salle/Oglesby Veterans Memorial Group. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:00 PM Friday in the Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle. Additional visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of services.
Mr. Gnidovic was born in La Salle on December 7, 1927 to Louis and Jennie (Lushina) Gnidovic. He married Dolores “Dorie” Wrona on January 27, 1951. He served with the US Navy at age 17, sailing on the USS Fletcher Class Destroyer in the South Pacific for 16 months.
After serving in the military, he managed the military surplus retail store in La Salle. He then owned Adolf’s Drive Inn in Oglesby and then worked at Janko Building. He later was a craftsman, working for Richwood INC traveling the US. After retirement, he enjoyed working at HyVee in Peru. Adolph enjoyed woodworking, photography and building model boats. He also enjoyed watching baseball and football.
He was past president of La Salle Park Board and very active in the school and church at St. Hyacinth’s.
Mr. Gnidovic is survived by his wife Dolores of La Salle; one daughter, Mary (Ed) Dergance of La Salle and one son Thomas (Donna) Gnidovic of Sugar Grove; four grandchildren, Ed Dergance Jr. , Dana Reed, Ryan (Lauren) Dergance, and Sean Dergance; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; one brother Donald (Mary) Gnidovic of Rock Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Jennie. Also his favorite cat Taffy and beloved dog Baxter.
